Trunk -An individual circuit, provided by either a public network operator or via a private network capable of carrying an individual telephone call (either incoming or outgoing).
Trunk – Transmission channel between switching centers or nodes.
Trunk, Trunks-Not the storage area of a car, but a word to describe the telephone lines coming into a call centre. The word "trunk" could easily and less confusing be replaced by the word "telephone line."
